Claude & Stella Parson Elementary School
Ask the Expert

Bringing the benefits of a field trip to the classroom

Throughout the year we strive to supplement our routine with presentations and guest speakers who are knowledgeable in the areas of curriculum we are studying. We welcome any dedicated enthusiasts, collectors, or career professionals that are willing to share and enhance the Parson academic experience. Our students have valuable adult relatives and family friends with varied hobbies, trade skills, and travel experiences. The school community can only benefit from this wealth of expertise.

Areas of expertise range from Dad’s degree in veterinary medicine, Aunt Debbie’s catering business, Grandma’s expertise in quilting, to Mom’s choreography of musical theater. Sharing one’s passion of a topic models for children a love for life-long learning, reading, questioning, researching, and communicating information in real-world applications.

We are trying to scout a wide variety of volunteers to present the classic elementary “show-and-tell” 15-30 minute demonstration. Volunteers can present to a single class or multiple classes. This “Ask the Expert!” volunteer series is not limited to just Nevada Reading Week or Career Week, this is a year-long program based on volunteer availability.

We want to provide more authentic opportunities to see, hear, touch, and smell the real world!
