Claude & Stella Parson Elementary School
Garden
Here's some news from the Garden and from Mrs. Schrodi:

Today I'm going to introduce you to a program for students here in Las Vegas.
The Junior Master Gardeners program meets two Saturdays a month for 3 hours.
This program is for kids ages 7-12. The spring semester begins in February and runs through May.
Students will be working in a garden for at least one hour every session in addition to the classroom time where they will learn about the environment, growing food, and how things live and grow in the desert. They will also determine and work on a community service project. They have the opportunity to earn pins and certificates throughout the semester. If they are able to complete 4 semesters, they will become a certified Junior Master Gardener. This program is affiliated with 4-H, which means once the students register they are able to participate in other 4-H units. This program costs $52 but there are scholarships available.
